My name is Steve Borcherdt.  I run the little local carpet cleaning company that has been trying so hard to get your attention.  You might know me from my ads which guarantee, "You get the most thorough carpet cleaning ever seen, or it's free!  "

With a hundred dollars and a dream to educate my children in private school, I bought a bucket, a brush and a squeegee and started a window cleaning business, A Fresh Clean Look.  One of my first commercial accounts asked if I would take care of his hard surface floors.  In the shadows of his basement he had an old relic floor machine along with many other artifacts of bygone days.  He sold the machine to me for fifty dollars.  I added a new clutch plate and friction disc.  For many years the floor machine earned extra cash and is, as far as I know, still running for the people I donated it to.  Along the way I traded my window accounts for inside work and learned how to clean carpets from an old master.  I bought a good portable machine and began to concentrate exclusively on carpet cleaning.  After 18 years in customer service working for others, I decided to pursue my dream of being in business for myself-- full time.

Ten years ago I invested in a brand new van and a new truck mounted carpet-cleaning machine.  I also invested thousands of dollars to educate myself to better clean carpets and serve my clients.  At first I educated myself to do a better job and upgraded my equipment to make my job easier.  But I soon learned that my training and state of the art equipment gave me a tremendous competitive edge.  I have capitalized on that difference and have determined to set my business apart by design.   In the spring of 2003, I was the first in the Seattle area and 42^nd in the nation to purchase a new state of the art machine capable of cleaning at higher temperatures and with more vacuum.
