Why are IICRC Certifications so important?

The IICRC is the governing body of carpet cleaners.  It doesn't have members in the traditional sense but rather registrants.  Just because you are a carpet cleaner doesn't mean you are automatically associated with the IICRC.  Many carpet cleaners are not.  You have to register by taking certification classes.  Certifications are important to insure that the technician knows what they are doing.  It is more than just training.  There is always a classroom portion and most often a hands on section but more importantly students are tested and required to pass the test to demonstrate their proficiency.  Being registered and certified by the IICRC is recognized as sign of professionalism.

I currently hold the following certifications:

Carpet Cleaner, Upholstery and Fabric Cleaning, Water Damage Restoration, Journeyman Textile Cleaner, Floor Care Technician (Hard Surfaces), Odor Control technician.
